Our Campaign

_ Building a world class city requires vision. SubwaysTO believes that Toronto should build quality rapid transit for the future - to move people faster to work, and back home to their families.

Decades of inaction have left Toronto behind other cities in having a proper subway system to serve its population. We need to look long term and invest in a rapid transit system that will serve our needs today and decades from now.

We are advocating for the completion of the Sheppard line underground that will provide a one seat ride from Downsview to Scarborough Centre. We are also pushing for the Eglinton line to be completely separated from the road all the way from Black Creek to Kennedy to Scarborough Centre.

Both these lines have been on the books for decades, and should be built as real grade-separated rapid transit lines.

Transit City LRTs that stop at red lights, have too many stops, restricts road traffic, and run only 6 kilometers an hour faster than buses in the middle of the road is surface transit - not rapid transit. They are not what world class cities depend on as their central mode of transport.

This is a fight that will dictate the future of Toronto transit for generations. Torontonians have spoken time after time again that they want subways, and now the politicians need to listen. Please join SubwaysTO in the fight for real rapid transit in Toronto.
